Applications of BBa_K311004
This part constitutively expresses the bacterial microcompartment (BMC) genes EutS, EutM, EutN, EutL and EutK from Salmonella LT2 in E.coli. EutSMNLK are thought to form a BMC shell, into which proteins with an N-terminal signal sequence can be targeted. Applications of this part include biocatalysis, i.e., it can be used to enclose enzymes, thus creating in vivo nanobioreactors for improved reaction efficiency.
